Shah Rukh Khan

Shah Rukh Khan is an experienced handloom weaver from Islampur village, Swat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. He has spent the last 10 years working on traditional handlooms and producing a variety of woolen shawls. While his father serves in the police department and is not directly engaged in weaving, other members of his family have been involved in the handloom sector for more than 20 years.

After completing his basic education, Shah Rukh chose to continue working in the local weaving industry. Over the years, he has developed strong skills in weaving ladies’ plain shawls as well as decorative patterned shawls that require careful attention to detail and design consistency.

He typically works for 10–11 hours per day and produces 2–3 designed shawls daily, depending on the complexity of the patterns. Plain shawls can be completed more quickly, allowing him to produce up to 5 pieces per day.

Personal Message:

“Handloom weaving has provided me with both a profession and a connection to my community. I take pride in producing handmade shawls that showcase the skills and traditions of the artisans of Swat.”
